    The Electronic Resources Librarian is responsible for coordinating and enhancing the library’s electronic resources and services. The librarian participates in O’Grady Library’s information literacy program, providing library instruction and reference assistance in individual, classroom, and online settings. As a liaison to specific academic departments, the librarian coordinates collection development in those disciplines and provides research instruction for students. The librarian is committed not only to effectiveness in carrying out his or her duties as a librarian, but also to continued professional growth and service to the University and the profession.
    This position supports academic excellence at Saint Martin’s, a strategic imperative central to the university’s mission. Through instruction and reference, this librarian guides students in developing their information literacy skills, which support inquiry, critical thinking and communication. As a liaison to selected academic departments, the Electronic Resources Librarian collaborates with faculty to build a collection that supports the university curriculum and enables students to succeed academically. Finally, through participation in consortial resource sharing, the position helps to sustain collaborative partnerships that leverage institutional resources and support students and faculty in their research

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities
    Electronic services and resources management
    • Provides leadership, strategic vision, and effective management of the library’s web presence, enhancing the discoverability, usability, and access to information resources. Works collaboratively with librarians and library staff, Marcom, and ITS to create coherent, consistent, and accessible web services.
    • Coordinates the selection, acquisition, implementation, administration, and support of electronic resources, working with consortia, vendors, library staff, and faculty. Negotiates and manages license agreements, promotes use, analyzes usage data, and ensures effective discovery and access.
    • Manages the local acquisitions and resource management configurations of the integrated library system (Ex Libris) and trains staff on the use of the clients.
    • Manages the library’s web site and administers a variety of library technologies and web services (e.g., LibGuides, LibAnswers, EZProxy).
    • Develops and maintains written policies, procedures, and support documentation related to electronic resources, web services, and library technologies.
    • Monitors spending out of collection budget for database and other electronic subscriptions; verifying and processing invoices and generating financial reports as needed. Works closely with the university's finance office and the library director to carry out these functions.
    Instruction, reference, and collection development
    • Participates in the library’s liaison program, overseeing collection development and providing instruction in assigned liaison areas. Fosters a collaborative relationship between the library and faculty in assigned academic departments to support student and faculty research.
    • Participates in the library’s information literacy program, which includes teaching both course-integrated sessions and individualized research consultations, in face-to-face and online settings. The librarian will be a liaison to specific departments, with primary responsibility for instruction in those areas, but may also be asked to participate in instruction in general education or courses in other departments as needed.
    • Provides traditional and electronic reference services to students, faculty, and other patrons by appointment.
    • Creates instructional materials, such as subject and course class research guides, and online tutorials for assigned subject areas.
    Professional growth
    • Keeps current on trends and developments in electronic services and librarianship by reading professional literature, participating in professional organizations and committees, attending workshops, seminars, and conferences at the local, regional, consortial, or national level.
    • Serves as Saint Martin's Systems representative and the Discovery & User Experience (DUX) representative to the Orbis Cascade Alliance, monitoring email lists and participating in conference calls as appropriate to understand and contribute to developments in our shared platforms and services. The individual will also attend the monthly meeting for Shared Content & Technical Services (SCTS)
    • Actively contributes to field librarianship, participating on collaborative projects with colleagues at Orbis Cascade Alliance libraries, serving in professional organizations, and/or conducting research for publications or presentations in areas of library and information science.
    • Monitors emerging technologies and practices in the field, recommending new services to adopt and coordinating their implementation.
    Service
    • Actively participates in university governance and planning by serving on standing committees, working groups, search committees, and other teams as appropriate. Takes part in full-faculty meetings, convocation, commencement and other significant university events.
    • Actively participates in library planning and projects, attending library faculty and staff meetings. Serves on library working groups, search committees, and other teams as appropriate.

    Requirements and/or Conditions of Employment
    • Master’s degree in library science or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution obtained by June 30, 2022.
    • Experience or demonstrated coursework in electronic resource management and/or web development.
    • Experience providing instruction and reference in a diverse educational setting, preferred.
    • Successfully pass a criminal and sexual misconduct check(s).
