Performs routine cataloging processes. Additionally, Librarian Assistant assists with maintenance and update processes for library databases, software, and systems. May perform clerical tasks related to book purchasing and payments. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Librarian Assistant works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Primary Responsibilities
Plans and implements programming for age groups birth to young adult.
Participates in collection development for youth and young adult materials, by budgeting, selecting, purchasing, and weeding print and e-materials.
Creates inviting displays and decorations.
Delivers outreach services to community organizations serving youth.
Maintains statistics for annual reports.
Manages Youth Services staff
Acts as a member of the Management Team
Qualifications
Master’s in Library Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working with children required.
Library experience in Youth Services is preferred.
Proficient with technology.
Excellent public service skills.
Spanish language skills are a plus.
