LIBRARIAN develops and maintains a collection of books and other materials and provides research and reference support to library users. Researches publications and suggests new sources and offerings for acquisition to enhance the collection. Being a LIBRARIAN performs cataloging and creates bibliographies and metadata to classify the library's collection of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials. Designs and delivers research support processes and services to ensure that groups and individuals can access requested materials. Additionally, LIBRARIAN distributes up-to-date information on new acquisitions, library activities, and services. Oversees the selection and maintenance of technology infrastructure and tools used in the library. Requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. The LIBRARIAN occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.       TITLE: Library Aide

      QUALIFICATIONS:
      • High school diploma or equivalent
      • Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed; attention to detail, ability to track data and follow up with appropriate resources
      • Ability to create and maintain an attractive, functional and organized environment for student learning
      • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
      REPORTS TO: Principal

      JOB GOAL: To provide a well-organized, smooth functioning library environment in which students can take full advantage of the materials available and develop a love for reading.

      PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
      • Write monthly notices to homeroom teachers concerning overdue books and collect fines for such books.
      • Make simple repairs on damaged books and process more severely damaged books for repair at the bindery.
      • Ready books for reserve on teachers' requests and maintain the Reserve Shelf.
      • Assist in the annual inventory of library materials and the preparation of lists of missing books and books to be discarded.
      • Shelve incoming books.
      • Oversee the general neatness and attractiveness of the library and displays.
      • Order new books at direction of Librarian.
      • Read aloud with students
      • Must be able to pass a CBI check
      Sterling is located in Logan County in the Northeastern corner of Colorado on Interstate 76 alongside the Platte River. Having the largest population, approximately 14,699 (2020), in Logan County and much of the surrounding area, Sterling offers shopping, restaurants, numerous parks, a recreation center, access to medical care and is located near North Sterling Reservoir. Sterling is approximately 1 1/2 hours from Denver International Airport and 2 hours from Denver and the front range (I-25 corridor).
