LIBRARIAN jobs in Kansas City, MO
LIBRARIAN develops and maintains a collection of books and other materials and provides research and reference support to library users. Researches publications and suggests new sources and offerings for acquisition to enhance the collection. Being a LIBRARIAN performs cataloging and creates bibliographies and metadata to classify the library's collection of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials. Designs and delivers research support processes and services to ensure that groups and individuals can access requested materials. Additionally, LIBRARIAN distributes up-to-date information on new acquisitions, library activities, and services. Oversees the selection and maintenance of technology infrastructure and tools used in the library. Requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. The LIBRARIAN occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Job Position Description
- This is a part-time hybrid role for a Librarian. The Librarian will be responsible for library collection management and development.
- Develop the collection of print and electronic information resources by selecting, de-selecting, developing, and cataloging, classifying library resources.
- Review and evaluate materials using book reviews and faculty recommendations for selecting print, electronic, audio-visual resources.
- Develop special collections: theology and music collection.
- This is a hybrid role with some work from home opportunity but the role is primarily located in Lexington, MO
Qualifications
- Library Science Degree (e.g. MLS/MLIS)
- Expertise in Library Science and Library Management
- Understanding of Library Information Systems and familiarity with available resources
- Relevant skills and qualifications that would be beneficial include experience with cataloging and supervising staff
