LIBRARIAN develops and maintains a collection of books and other materials and provides research and reference support to library users. Researches publications and suggests new sources and offerings for acquisition to enhance the collection. Being a LIBRARIAN performs cataloging and creates bibliographies and metadata to classify the library's collection of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials. Designs and delivers research support processes and services to ensure that groups and individuals can access requested materials. Additionally, LIBRARIAN distributes up-to-date information on new acquisitions, library activities, and services. Oversees the selection and maintenance of technology infrastructure and tools used in the library. Requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. The LIBRARIAN occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Summary

    Under direct supervision, assists in performing overall daily maintenance of the library to include ordering, cataloging, classifying, circulation, and maintaining all library periodicals, books, and materials. Provides information and assistance on use of the card catalog.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    • Maintains and organizes the circulation of library materials.
    • Assists in the directing and training of detainee library aides.
    • Assists in the selection of library books, periodicals and materials for purchase.
    • Conducts library inventories. Prepares, maintains and reports appropriate records pertaining to circulation, inventory, newspapers and magazines.
    • May assist in conducting library orientation for classes in coordination with instructors.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications:

    Minimum Requirements

    • High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
    • Degree in library sciences or related field or provisional/professional Librarian Certification preferred.
    • Experience and/or training preferred in assisting in the operation of a small institutional library preferred.

    Pay: Pay USD $19.80/Hr.
