Job Summary
:
The Library Technician supports the Upper School Library, ‘Iolani Archives, and Sullivan Center (SCIL) Faculty Workroom. This person will provide administrative, technical, and general office support to the Librarians and Archivist as well as promote a positive and service-oriented image within and outside of the library.
Duties and Responsibilities
:
This position is primarily responsible for administrative, technical, and general office aspects of library and archives operations such as circulation, acquisition, collection development, cataloging, file management, report preparation, and technical processing of library materials (books, magazines, etc.). Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Answer phone calls and monitor the library email account.

Maintain SCIL Workroom and Library facilities (replace copy machine cartridges, check and refill supplies, put in work orders, etc.).

Collect, sort, and distribute mail for Library and Archives staff.

Check in magazines and newspapers.

Shelve library materials.
-
Coordinate requests for collaboration centers and library instruction.

Staff the library circulation desk (check-ins and check-outs, etc.).

Maintain the library budget and provide monthly reports.

Place orders to library vendors.

Process donations.
-
Process all incoming library materials.

Order and keep inventory of office supplies.

Assist in maintenance and troubleshooting of computer equipment and copy machines in the Library and Workroom.

Supervise student library patrons and student interns as needed.

Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
:

Highly organized with attention to detail and accuracy.
-
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.

Ability to multitask and prioritize work.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).

Familiarity with Google Apps Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, etc.).

Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
-
Familiarity with or ability to learn integrated library systems and Dewey Decimal.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.

Due to work in close proximity to children, must pass fingerprinting and background clearance checks. TB clearance required.
