Summary of Responsibilities:  

The Library Special Programs Coordinator position will work with the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma Higher Education Director and other department staff to complete grant funded goals and objectives within a Bridging the Gaps Special Programs project. The Program Coordinator will help plan and execute special humanities activities along with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participate in planning meetings with Higher Education Director and department staff. 
• Operate monthly activities to promote humanities objectives targeting explorations and access to literature, history, language, and art. 
• Promote inclusion of projects with tribal elders, youth programs, and early childhood program participants. 
• Observe social distancing needs as relevant to project activities. 
• Assist with library operations and customer service. 
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma 
• Higher Education (preferred)

• Knowledge of culturally diverse populations and their needs.
• Ability to work independently within a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to display servant leadership skills. 
• Must be able to read, understand, apply and retain knowledge of departmental rules, regulations, and policies.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, in writing and verbally, with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work effectively with professionals and community employers in carrying out an effective job placement program.
• Ability to use data to analyze issues and present recommended solutions, identify opportunities, and measure improvement.
• Ability to communicate sensitive or controversial information directly and respectfully.
• Skills in aligning activities and resources with the mission and strategy of the program.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point) and internet resources.
