Job Posting – Upshur County Public Library: Assistant Director

The Upshur County Public Library (UCPL) is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director. The UCPL is a full service library located in Buckhannon, WV, a progressive college community approximately two hours south of Pittsburgh, PA and two hours north of Charleston, WV.
The successful candidate must be an effective communicator, have strong organizational skills, and possess a sound work ethic. Experience with managing the daily tasks inherent in a public library, social media, and outreach services would be essential. Proficiency with grant writing, technology and prior supervisory skills would be beneficial. A major component of this position will be seeking new ways to engage and promote lifelong reading experiences to our patrons of all ages.
UCPL primarily serves a county with a population of about 25,000. In addition, the UCPL is a service center library, providing administrative services to 14 affiliates in a six county region. UCPL has an annual operating budget of approximately $350,000 and a staff of 5 FTEs and 2 part-time employees.
The minimum requirement for the position is a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program. Two years of professional library service, particularly supervisory experience, would be beneficial. The salary will be dependent upon the candidate’s experience within our budget, with a competitive benefits package.
