    Position Summary
    Reporting to the Director of Development, Affinity, and Events, the Affinity Coordinator engages and supports the Library’s affinity organizations and individuals in ways to best support the Library and the community through volunteering and contracted workers.
    Includes fundraising and event support.

    The incumbent will have strong leadership skills and demonstrate a commitment to the
    TLCPL’s mission and values including being welcoming, innovative, objective, accountable, and collaborative.

    Primary Responsibilities

    1. Oversees and coordinates the Library’s adult and teen volunteer programs at the
    Library’s twenty locations in collaboration with Public Service and Human
    Resources staff.

    a. Develops meaningful volunteer opportunities for community members that benefit the Library, while creating impactful learning opportunities for the volunteers, especially teens.

    b. Coordinates with agencies the training of volunteers on Library best practices and expectations.

    c. Coordinates with agencies the performance evaluations of volunteers, as needed. d. Leads efforts in recruiting volunteers, both teens and adults, including, but not limited to, attending volunteer recruitment fairs.

    e. Maintains and updates volunteer handbook and job descriptions, as needed.

    f. Manages volunteer software; trains staff and volunteers on use and implementation of said software.

    g. Runs background checks and interviews potential volunteers.
    2. Coordinates efforts and manages logistics around the Ambassador program for the Library’s affinity organization, Books 4 Buddies.

    a. Works with key stakeholders (public service staff, B4B Board, Mentors, partner organizations, etc.) to develop meaningful opportunities and programs for the B4B Ambassadors.

    b. Leads the efforts in recruiting Ambassadors and Mentors. c. Maintains book inventory and supply for events. d. Plans, manages logistics, and attends distribution events.

    3. Assists with recruitment of volunteers for the Library’s affinity organization,
    Friends of the Library. a. Works with key stakeholders (branch managers and FOL Board) to recruit volunteers for FOL agency chapters. b. Assists in planning and coordinating FOL chapter meetings. c. Helps with logistics, as needed, with branch book sales.

    4. Assists with coordination and logistics of any future Library affinity organizations.
    5. Writes grants in support of affinity groups and Library, such as Authors! and galas, as assigned.
    6. Actively supports diversity, equity, and inclusion. Promotes a culture where all staff and customers belong.
    7. Works towards fundraising goals of all affinity organizations, which may include minor donor relations, creating campaigns, and working on fundraising events.
    8. Helps the development department with large scale events, as needed.
    9. Along with volunteers, may table at a few key events per year, representing the

    Library and/or affinity organizations.
    10. Maintaining social media accounts for various affinity organizations.
    11. Duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Knowledge/Skills

    1. Excellent organizational skills and experience with project management.
    2. Excellent communication skills, including writing, proofreading and public speaking skills.
    3. Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with a high degree of professionalism.
    4. Excellent customer service skills and high expectations for quality.
    5. Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and work assignments.
    6. Ability to be self-motivated to accomplish projects with little supervision.
    7. Ability to work effectively and productively with staff and volunteers.
    8. Knowledge of principles, concepts and marketing methods as applied to public agencies and retail operations.

    Training/Experience/Education/Certification
    1. Bachelor’s Degree is required.
    2. A minimum of four (4) years of successful development/fundraising experience is required.
    3. A minimum of four (4) years’ experience in support of affinity/volunteer groups is preferred.
    4. Prior grant writing experience is preferred.
    5. Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and web- based team collaboration software is required.
    6. Must possess an understanding and a commitment to the objectives and philosophy of public library service.

    7. Must be able to meet the flexible scheduling requirements of the department and the Library, including evening/night and weekend hours.

    8. Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet the vehicle insurance requirement of the Library.

    Physical Requirements

    1. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs., repetitively.
    2. Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time (up to 4 hours) at an event.

    Pay: $59,972.84 - $81,062.09 per year
