    We are seeking a dedicated Technical Services Library Manager that manages and maintains library technical policies, procedures, and online research applications. Maintains and organizes the library’s collection through cataloging, processing, shelving, and eliminating superseded library materials. Assists with legal research both online and in print, pertaining to legal, marketing, and to general research and reference questions. Maintain knowledge of online research applications, both legal and non-legal from diverse services, including InMagic Library Software, OneLog – My Library, Westlaw, and Microsoft applications. Manages and maintains electronic resources and plans and prepares training materials for library electronic resources and conducts training sessions and organizes training sessions by vendors. Orders and maintains library collections, including those for attorney and firm-wide use. Processes department invoices, bills, and other statements. Available for special projects; available for travel to other offices (Atlanta, Nashville); available for seminars and continuing education.

    Responsibilities:

    • Stays current with updating print materials, which includes filing loose-leaf replacement pages, pocket parts, and supplements and ensuring that updates are correct and complete, contacting publishers as needed.
    • Processes new books and other print materials.
    • Shelves books, including books in the labor library; organizes and files back issues of newspapers and periodicals.
    • Regularly checks all book drops on all floors and returns books to the library.
    • Maintains knowledge of location of all print materials and locates and delivers materials as needed.
    • Performs general housekeeping such as straightening library work areas in the main library and the labor library. Straightens shelves, fronts books (lines them up uniformly, near the front of the shelf), shifts books to make room for more materials (as needed), and maintains the reading and newspaper areas.
    • Copies materials requested by attorneys, including book copies, articles from periodicals and case copies.
    • Hand delivers new office handbooks when they arrive (large bulk shipments of annual paperbacks which go to all attorneys in a particular department or practice area).
    • Assists attorneys and paralegals with their own research and recommends research techniques and sources. Under the direction of requesting attorney, occasionally performs legal and non-legal research, both manual and computerized.
    • Conducts new attorney, new paralegal, and summer associate orientation and training, with particular emphasis on cost effective techniques for Westlaw usage.
    • In charge of collection management, library organization, and processing of library materials.
    • Catalogs library materials for all office locations (on InMagic, using the Library of Congress Classification System).
    • Assists w/basic reference questions from staff, paralegals, and attorneys with the ability to work independently under deadlines.
    • Assists with mechanics of using Westlaw or other electronic services, as needed.
    • Organizes training sessions for legal research services for attorneys’ paralegals and staff, as needed.
    • Processes all new orders of library publications after approval of attorney or Administrative Director. Adds assignment of new InMagic record for each new purchase. Assignment of ledger numbers with each new or continued purchase received.
    • Processes all approval books/purchases with approval documentation for requesting attorney and follow-up with attorney for processing or return of approval publication.
    • Processes all services updates for delivery and installation to the IT Department, ensuring that most current updates are received.
    • Maintains Library software applications, assuring that current updates of OneLog – My Library and InMagic Software are received and loaded for use; Maintains mechanics and updating of forms and use of all services, managing any problems when errors appear, ensuring that software is working correctly.
    • Maintains library catalog inventory as standing order materials are received. The processing of book cards, labels, shelving and discarding or storage of obsolete materials, giving library clerk instructions to assist in this task.
    • Maintains library records on the on-line InMagic system by adding new attorney routings and updating current attorney routing lists. Maintaining a list of titles that attorneys receive in their routing for updating, additions or deletions, on a yearly basis.
    • Completes Westlaw monthly statements, preparing monthly summaries of client and office charges, sending statements to the business office for payment; processes monthly statements from Westlaw; West Litigation Monitor and any other specialty research statements as needed.
    • Work with outside directory contacts, maintains and updates all attorney directory listings, Tennessee Attorney’s Directory, assist Librarian with the group billing for the American Bar Association memberships.
    • Maintains the Firm’s opinion letter log under the direction of an attorney.
    • Available to attend continued education or library conferences as requested.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements and/or Qualifications:

    • Masters in Library Services (MLS) or Information Management degree preferred; related degree and/or comparable experience may be considered; education/experience with Library of Congress cataloging.
    • Excellent computer and research skills (Westlaw, Practical Law, Law360, CNS and Internet, Word, and other resources used by attorneys).
    • Knowledge of InMagic library software, OneLog – My Library, Pacer, GSCCCA and other services in setting up users.
    • Basic typing skills and knowledge and use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Flexibility and the ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
    • Ability to prioritize and to manage multiple tasks in a demanding environment.
    • Good people skills and the ability to communicate well and to work with various personalities, often in stressful situations.
    • Able to bend, stoop, and reach above head and able to pick up and carry weights of 5 to 20 pounds.
    • Able to travel to other offices, and/or attend continuing education events.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $33.33 - $38.46 per hour

    Expected hours: 37.50 per week
