    JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for supporting, developing, and implementing programs to stimulate students' interest in reading, research, information literacy, and library/media resources.  The position maintains knowledge of the current trends and developments in PreK-12 library collection development (digital and physical), automated library systems, and information technology. Oversees and directs all aspects of the District Library, including supervising department staff, providing support, training, professional learning and serving as a system administrator. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe subsequent duties outline the fundamental operations of the position and exemplify the nature of the tasks carried out.     Collects and analyzes circulation data to make informed decisions on selecting items for addition to or withdrawal from the collection.

    Manages the financial affairs of the department including budget, transactions, district wide purchase orders, and contractual agreements.

    Supports with the integrating Pre-K-12 CDE State Research and Media Literacy Standards and provides leadership and guidance to school library staff in the planning, development, and evaluation of library programs, resources, and services.

    Collaborates with the Equity, Culture, and Community Engagement department to support equitable access and acquisition of diverse and culturally relevant resources.

    Explores ways to utilize new technology for the delivery of professional information resources and curriculum support materials to the district teachers and administrators.

    Collaborates with district literacy partners to support the CCSD Literacy Plan and a district-wide culture of reading.

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: This job has supervisor responsibilities including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, directing work, assigning work, supervising work, training, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating. Direct reports:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum prerequisites of formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other criteria that a candidate must fulfill to be considered for a position. It is essential that certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, and trainings are fulfilled, valid, and not expired.

    • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required
    • Master's degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited program or its equivalent from an accredited university. 
    • Five (5) years of professional work experience 
    • Holds a current Colorado Teacher Librarian Endorsement
    • Experience with budget, financial management of complex contracts and coordinate centrally owned purchase orders.
    • Extensive understanding of integrated library automation systems and information technology
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills indicating an ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
