Library Services Director supervises, maintains, and enhances policies and procedures for a library. Oversees professional and support staff involved in cataloging, indexing, issuing books/materials, and keeping records of items on loan. Being a Library Services Director selects books and publications for purchase and subscribes to pertinent periodicals as allowed for by the given budget. Requires master's of library and information science from an ALA-accredited school. Additionally, Library Services Director typically reports to top management. The Library Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Job summary:
Plan, direct and coordinate activities and programs of the Latah County Library District. Work closely with the Board of Trustees to develop an annual budget and periodic strategic plans. Work in partnership with the Latah Library Foundation and Friends groups to advance the goals of the District. Serve as an active member of the Valnet board of directors.
