Library Services Manager manages the daily planning, staff, and operations for the acquisition, classification, maintenance, licensing, and distribution of print and digital materials to meet the information needs of library users. Coordinates process to research, review, identify and procure new materials to develop the library's collection. Being a Library Services Manager performs cataloging and creates bibliographies and metadata to classify the library's collection of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials. Develops and oversees support, service, and technology resources to ensure that groups and individuals can access requested materials. Additionally, Library Services Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The City of Cedar Park is seeking a Library Services Manager, overseeing a division of the library’s services.
This position is responsible for managing the Public Services team and supervising library services to adults of all ages. This is an exempt position with management responsibilities. The schedule for the position Sunday-Thursday with one evening shift per week. Schedules may change as needed to provide excellent customer service to our community.
Oversees and manages a major Library division including hiring, training, supervising and evaluating employee performance;
Develops division goals, objectives, priorities and procedures for area of responsibility, as well as participating in the development of department policies, short- and long-range plans, and City initiatives;
Performs and oversees Library staff in planning, managing, and implementing both year-round programs and special events,;
Manages an annual program budget and monitors expenditures in their area of responsibility;
Manages collection development, including reviewing and selecting materials for acquisition by, and removal from, the Library;
Performs and oversees customer service and reference services for their area of responsibility, including responding to information needs using available resources and readers advisory;
Responds to patron communications and concerns relative to Library staff and division activities;
Represents the City of Cedar Park and the Cedar Park Public Library to the public, including serving on the Leadership Team, participating in community organizations, maintaining effective communication with community partners, and providing outreach services to community stakeholders;
Writes and administers grants to support Library services;
Participates in professional meetings and workshops to discuss Library topics and follows current Library trends;
Assists with the Library's website administration, social media outlets and other Library communications;
Other Important Duties
Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
Master's Degree in Library Science; Master's Degree in Information Science, or Master of Science in Information Studies preferably from an ALA accredited college plus three (3) years of library related experience.
Knowledge of: Library administration, organization, and operation; municipal Library operations; and Library technology systems.
Ability to: work well with adults and children; delivery quality customer service, motivate, supervise, and train Library staff; demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication; establish and maintain effective working relationships with organizations, schools, employees and the general public; and operate standard office equipment, including fax, copier, calculator and computer using standard word processing, spreadsheet, and data inquiry software.
