Library Technical Services Director implements use of technology for library technical services operations. Develops policy and plan regarding materials acquisition budget, cataloging, serials and electronic licensing. Being a Library Technical Services Director requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Library Technical Services Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. The Sullivan County Public Library is seeking a fun and engaging candidate to assist with circulation and programming tasks at our Blountville branch.
This position does have a youth focus and candidates must be enthusiastic about helping library patrons develop literacy skills and create lifelong memories at the library which sometimes involves glitter or getting messy.
Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for facilitating weekly youth outreach programs
- Responsible for planning and implementing programming in the library for pre-k to middle school age children, not to include the library's weekly story time.
- May be required to facilitate programming for adults
- Complete circulation duties as directed by the Branch Manager or Assistant Branch Manager
- Work with the Branch Manager to serve the programming needs of the community
- Receives and records money per library policies
- Work with the Library Director to develop an individual plan for continuing education and professional development
Candidates must be willing to complete a background check.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 per week
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Weekends as needed
