Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant assists one or more physical therapists in evaluations, tests, and treatments of patients. Prepares patients and equipment for therapy and implements treatment plans as instructed, including exercises, stretching maneuvers, hands-on therapy, and equipment. Being a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant records patient's reaction to treatment and provides status reports at the end of each treatment to the physical therapist. Requires an associate degree. Additionally, Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant requires State physical therapist assistant license. Typically reports to a physical therapist. Job Summary
Administers physical therapy treatments to patients, working under the direction of and as assistant to the Licensed Physical
Therapist. Duties and responsibilities included the following listed below. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities and Duties
1. Performs, as directed by a Licensed Physical Therapist, duties and treatments required or requested in any given patient's approved treatment plan. This plan will be instituted by the LPT and subsequently approved by the patient's referring physician
2. Performs any treatment modality required by the treatment plan without direct supervision. The LPT must be available to offer supervision as needed. In addition, the LPT must make on-site supervisory visits at least once every thirty (30) days
3. Observes, evaluates and reports patient's responses and progress to the Licensed Physical Therapist
4. Confers with members of physical therapy staff and other health team members, individually and in conference, to exchange, discus, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs.
5. Submits a visit report to the LPT and RN Supervisor following each patient visit.
Qualifications and Skills
Graduate of and approved or accredited program for physical therapy assistant; or Must currently be licensed by the States of Texas as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
Ability to read and write in English; ability to interpret documents such as routine reports, correspondence, tables and graphs. Ability to speak effectively with consumers and employees of the agency. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carryout instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems that could arise during the course of business.

to hire reflecting a clear result with no contraindication to employment.
The Employee Misconduct Registry must be called to ensure the applicant is not on the registry for acts of abuse, neglect

The Nurse Aide Registry must be called to ensure the applicant has never been a certified Nurse Aide and had their certification
revoked for acts of abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation.
