Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant assists one or more physical therapists in evaluations, tests, and treatments of patients. Prepares patients and equipment for therapy and implements treatment plans as instructed, including exercises, stretching maneuvers, hands-on therapy, and equipment. Being a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant records patient's reaction to treatment and provides status reports at the end of each treatment to the physical therapist. Requires an associate degree. Additionally, Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant requires State physical therapist assistant license. Typically reports to a physical therapist. Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. We are a distinguished boutique clinic specializing in high quality manual therapy services, conveniently located in Gramercy Park. Currently, we are seeking a part-time or full-time Physical Therapist Assistant to work 16 -36 hours/week. The prospective candidate has the potential to work up to 40 hours/week as their patient base grows.
Schedule:
2 - 4 days/week
8 hour shifts
Hours may increase as your patient base grows
Patient load:
Maximum 2 per hour (30 minute one-on one sessions)
Experience:
Preferably a minimum of 1 year experience in an outpatient setting or a strong clinical affiliation history
Responsibilities/Skills:
- Manual therapy skills (please have outpatient manual therapy experience or be willing to learn)
- Assist the Physical Therapist in treating patients once the plan of care has been established
- Help patients use necessary equipment and devices and teach them how to exercise properly to supplement their physical therapy treatment
- Candidate must apply strong clinical thinking and be attentive to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Responsible for documentation of all patient encounters in EMR system
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
