Licensed Physical Therapist Asst. - Nursing Home assists Physical Therapist in evaluating and providing treatment for nursing home patients to ease their pain and help increase their mobility. Prepares patients and equipment for therapy and implements treatment plans as instructed, including exercises, stretching maneuvers, hands-on therapy, and equipment. Being a Licensed Physical Therapist Asst. - Nursing Home records patient's reaction to treatment and provides status reports at the end of each treatment. Requires an associate degree or graduation from an accredited physical therapist assistant program. Additionally, Licensed Physical Therapist Asst. - Nursing Home typically reports to a physical therapist. Requires a state physical therapist assistant license. Licensed Physical Therapist Asst. - Nursing Home's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited college with an A.S., in Physical Therapist Assistant that the APTA recognizes.
- PTA holds a current license and/or registration as a Physical Therapist Assistant in-state as applicable.
Responsibilities:
- Physical Therapist Assistant provides comprehensive treatment to patients under the supervision of a PT according to state practice guidelines.
- Assist PT in identifying appropriate patients and referring them to rehab accordingly.
- Document patient’s progress on weekly progress note in an accurate and timely fashion, and obtain the co-signature of the PT.
- Ensure MD orders are obtained for treatments, recertifications and discharges.
- Physical Therapist Assistant completes all required documentation requirements as indicated and according to state guidelines.
