Licensed Practical Nurse - Outpatient Clinic administers nursing care in an outpatient facility or clinic under the supervision of a registered nurse or other medical supervisor. Takes patient history and performs initial physical evaluation of patient's condition. Being a Licensed Practical Nurse - Outpatient Clinic provides basic medical care, including changing bandages, administering prescribed medication, and collecting specimens. May be responsible for patient triage. Additionally, Licensed Practical Nurse - Outpatient Clinic requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a registered nurse or supervisor. Summary of Job Function: Provieds prescribed medical treatment and personal care sevices to ill, injured, convalescent, and disabled persons in such settings as hospitals, clinics, private homes, schools, sanitariums, and similar institutions.

Essential Functions:
1. Takes and records patients vial signs.
2. Applies first aid such as but not limited to dressing wounds, messages, applies compresses, ice bags, and hot water bottles.
3. Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel in charge.
4. Administers specified medication, orally or by subcutaneous or intramuscular injections, and notes time and amount in patients chart.
5. Collects samples such as urine from patients for testing.
6. Records food and fluid intake and output if necessary.
7. Assists clients with daily living skills such as but not limited to cleaning rooms, making bed, laundry, cooking, and cleaning self.
8. Administrative duties may include but not limited to documentation, filing, answering phones, and making copies.
9. All other duties assigned.
Job Specifications:
1. Education, Certification/License, and/or Experience
a. Must possess an Associates Degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
b. Must possess licensure from the WV Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses upon hire and maintain license.
c. Attain/maintain certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and CPR/FA during employment.
d. Requires valid drivers license and access to reliable transportation during working hours.
2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required: Must have (1) knowledge of nursing care principles, practices, and procedures; (2) knowledge of safety principles and infection control (3) and the ability to assess consumers needs and coordinate appropriate nursing care plan. Must also possess the ability to read, write reports, perform basic math (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing), have good computer skills, and possess good verbal and written communication skills.
