    THE ROLE:  

    As a Permit Coordinator, you will play a critical role in providing a high level of customer service for both internal and external customers in regards to business licensing.

    The ideal candidate for this role will have 1 year of customer service experience, interpersonal and critical thinking skills, and the ability to foster a culture based on integrity and respect. You will collaborate with the permitting Lead  to:

    • Provide excellent customer service
    • Learn to Navigate the State’s BLS site
    • L&I Contractor Licensing
    • The City’s current licensing software
    • Work with multiple internal and external departments specifically for proposed Special Events.
    • Receipt payments, general reporting, and daily balancing/depositing.

     A background check is required upon acceptance of a conditional offer.

     

    REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.):

    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Minimum of one-year experience as a permit technician, planning, building, public works, construction customer service, and/or municipal land development. 
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
    • ICC certification as Permit Technician or obtain within the probationary period.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Associate’s Degree
    • Previous experience in local government
    • Bilingual strongly desired (English/Spanish)

    • In addition to DRS, employees may also contribute to a 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, that offers a pre-tax contribution of 4% from the City

    SAFETY/WORK CONDITIONS: 

    Mostly office-based work with occasional standing at a counter and handling files, including occasional interactions with sensitive and diverse groups, involving some physical movement and lifting up to 20 pounds.
