Description
PURPOSE
The Trademark and Licensing Coordinator, reporting to the Director of Marketing, plays a pivotal role in overseeing the university's licensing program.
This individual ensures the proper registration of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi names and marks, oversees the utilization of official trademarked names and symbols in graphic design and merchandise applications, upholds university standards to safeguard the integrity of the marks, and actively engages in promoting the commercial utilization of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi marks with retail vendors and licensed manufacturers.
Additionally, the Trademark and Licensing Coordinator is responsible for developing and executing marketing and promotions programs to bolster the university's brand image.
DESCRIPTION
Provide daily review of all submissions for use of university marks, assuring proper use of university trademarks and the use of officially licensed vendors.
Work with licensing agency on assuring quality and appropriate use of marks in commercial activities.
Provide guidance to university departments and external vendors on how to correct designs to achieve compliance with university standards.
Oversee the AgoraCX (Coreexpand) platform for internal promotional item purchases, including daily review and approval of submissions as well as providing training and guidance to the campus community.
Work with local and regional businesses to promote the availability and sale of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi merchandise.
Regularly contact vendors to encourage prominent display of university merchandise, the addition of new materials, and encourage promotional opportunities.
Visit prospective vendors in the Coastal Bend to encourage carrying Texas A&M-Corpus Christi merchandise.
Develop programs to promote the university brand and logos in schools and with community organizations, such as providing materials for teacher classrooms, business lobbies, etc.

Develop educational initiatives aimed at raising awareness within the university community regarding proper logo and trademark usage.
Support in overseeing the university's style guidelines and ensure timely updates when necessary.
Ensure that all appropriate Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi names, symbols, and graphics are registered and maintained as official marks of the university, subject to university regulation and control.
Alert university to misuse of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi trademarks by vendors or others and determine appropriate actions for follow up, including but not restricted to telephone calls, personal visits, and requests for OGC to send cease and desist letters.
Create reports to track growth of licensing program.
Provide aggregate information to vendors on potential buyers, including students, alumni and friends and special opportunities such as Homecoming, Move-In Day, athletic seasons, or other events.
Manage the promotional item inventory for the Marketing and Communications Office.
Performs other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or applicable field.
Three years of related experience in a marketing, licensing, or communications field.
Additional education / experience may be considered as a substitute : Associates degree in applicable field with five (5) years of related experience or Master’s degree in applicable field with one (1) year of related experience.
Adept at utilizing Microsoft Office suite, presentation software and building / utilizing spreadsheets.
Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships with people of various backgrounds.
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to comfortably facilitate relationships with internal and external constituents.
Some travel required.
WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE
Experience in an advertising agency; public relations; university marketing, licensing, athletics department; or merchandising role strongly preferred.
Ability to understand legal issues, and policy issues related to trademarks.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful marketing strategies and experience working and managing a multilayered brand.
SALARY : $40,000 - $45,000 / annually, approximately.
$3,333.34 - $3,750 / monthly
Salary is dependent upon education and / or experience.
This position may include hybrid work arrangements with a minimum of 2 days in the office each week.
