Description:

Cal State Bakersfield sits in the heart of Kern County, which is the largest geographic county in California with no Young Life presence. You would be part of developing a ministry that would have the potential to impact not only 10,000 undergrads, but more than 80,000 young people across Kern County.

Responsibilities:

• Train and develop student leaders.
• Oversee student outreach and discipleship; coordinate and lead a weekly club.
• Develop, oversee and lead small groups.
• Plan “camping” opportunities (e.g., service projects, spring break trips, work week, etc.).
• Pursue and meet college-age students in their environment.
• Build community among students and the leadership team.
• Promote community ownership; communicate the vision of Young Life College.
• Connect with adults in the community and at the university.
• Implement and lead college leader recruitment.
• Fundraising and financial management.
• Develop and maintain good donor relationships.
• Eventually, help train new leaders that will be placed in various schools around Bakersfield.
• Mentor and train a student staff for a high school start-up.

Qualifications:

• Deep, abiding faith in Jesus Christ and love for people.
• College degree preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Willingness to be coached in personal fundraising.
• Active participation in a local church.
• Strong organizational skills.
