Life Underwriting Director directs and oversees the life insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups. Responsible for ensuring integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Being a Life Underwriting Director provides coaching to underwriters and assists on more complex applications. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Additionally, Life Underwriting Director typically requires Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) certification or Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI) designation. Typically reports to top management. The Life Underwriting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Life Underwriting Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     We are looking for a Product Manager to join our Business Owner Solutions Onboarding team to help drive Underwriting innovation and efficiency. As a Product Manager on our team, you will lead the discovery, strategy and solutions for Life and Disability Insurance underwriting technology focusing on organizational effectiveness and customer experience.

    Here are a few examples of the kinds of things you’ll do:

    • Work closely with our underwriting experts to set direction and priority for high-value business items
    • Develop and maintain the product roadmap in collaboration with business partners
    • Represent our business for the product, fostering strong relationships with key partners to ensure that their views and requirements are captured in the product backlog
    • Prioritize the items in the product backlog
    • Take accountability for product delivery in line with the roadmap

    Who You Are

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
    • 10 years business or product management experience required
    • Technical knowledge of Life/Disability underwriting or past Product Manager experience
    • Analytical, self- motivated and collaborative to get results through others
    • Excellent communication skills, highly organized, and detail oriented

    Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

    • Experience with product discovery techniques
    • Knowledge of Life and/or Disability Insurance onboarding processes
    • Experience using collaboration tools such as JIRA, Miro, Confluence

    Salary Range Information

    Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
    Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

    $106400 - $127000 / year
    Time Off Program

    Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

    This role offers in-office and hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek) work arrangements. You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
