The 120 students in Marfa await the next Young Life leader who will arrive in their lives with Jesus Christ, hope, and invitation to live a full life! For this, Big Bend Young Life is seeking a missionary-minded leader to oversee dynamic & meaningful ministry to each of these Marfa middle school and high school students while collaborating with the Big Bend Young Life team at large.

Marfa has been the birth place and nucleus for YL in the Big Bend since 2018. With 120 kids between the junior and senior high school, a leaderhas the opportunity to know and involve every teenager in the town. Coming off a rich 5 years of ministry, the stage is set for the next person to enter into the world of kids and be the aroma of Christ in their lives. Marfa is a wonderful community, in a challenging environment, that values enthusiastic, empathetic, creative leadership. This is an incredibly unique opportunity for spiritual, cultural, and professional growth while also making an impact in a small town.

Big Bend Young Life’s other staff, interns and volunteers reside across Marfa, Presidio, Alpine, Terlingua, Lajitas, and Ojinaga, Mexico - allowing for fellowship, collaboration, and adventure with like-hearted individuals. Direct supervision, support, and partnership comes from the Big Bend YL Director who lives in Marfa and will also serve as a leader. Prayerfully consider the calling to serve students and join a team committed to a transformative ministry of the Gospel along the Texas/Mexico border.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in and lead meaningful direct ministry (contact work, club, campaigners and camp).
• Engage the local community with the posture of a student and servant.
• Learn from and contribute to existing local and ministry cultures.
• Build healthy working relationships with the school administration, churches, parents and the community.
• Provide mentorship, direction, and encouragement to part-time staff, interns, and volunteers alongside Big Bend YL Director.
• Vision casting and collaborative support for YL College in nearby Alpine TX.
• Raise financial support and camp scholarship.
• Attend national, regional and area trainings & events.

Qualifications:

• A deep and growing faith in Jesus Christ.
• A passion for walking alongside adolescents and calling others into that mission.
• Experience in leading both ministries and teams
• Preferred Spanish fluency or a willingness to learn Spanish.
• A vision to grow current ministries in reaching kids, leaders, committee and parents.
• A servant leader who is teachable, innovative, collaborative and flexible.
• Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills as it pertains to donors and parents of kids.
