Life Underwriting Director directs and oversees the life insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups. Responsible for ensuring integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Being a Life Underwriting Director provides coaching to underwriters and assists on more complex applications. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Additionally, Life Underwriting Director typically requires Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) certification or Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI) designation. Typically reports to top management. The Life Underwriting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Life Underwriting Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • Position Summary The Life Enrichment Coordinator will plan, organize, and direct a program of activities, which provides opportunity for entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and expression and fulfills basic psychological, social, and spiritual needs, which will be available to all residents of the facility. Assists the physically, emotionally, and cognitively impaired individual and family to explore appropriate avocation/leisure pursuits.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Develop, organize, and implement a program of activities to meet the social, emotional, physical, spiritual and other therapeutic needs of residents as identified on the residents’ plan of care and within the specified budget.
    • Initiate and promote activities both within the community and outside the community, as weather permits, insuring the safety and well-being of each resident always.
    • Coordinate and verify that assistance is provided to residents for activities and events as necessary.
    • Create an ongoing calendar of activities, which creatively meets multiple needs and is accessible and appealing to both men and women of all ages and abilities consistent with standards established by policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Solicit the involvement of the community (clubs, groups, organizations, agencies, churches, individuals, etc.) when planning facility activities and events.
    • Maintain attendance records of activity programs and participation of individual residents.
    • Develop and distribute a monthly calendar of events. Provide a copy of the calendar in each resident’s room, and at least one large calendar prominently displayed in the facility.
    • Design and distribute monthly newsletter to families and residents, including electronically.
    • Develop and maintain an active volunteer program through marketing, development, support, and organization. Encourage participation by residents, family members, staff, visitors, and community groups and individuals. Assign and train volunteers and maintain documentation of volunteer hours. Reward volunteers for service annually and at other special events.
    • Assist the residents with organizing and maintaining active Resident Council. Provide accommodation, assistance, scheduling, and other means to assure that residents can meet a minimum of one time per month. Channel feedback from Resident council to the appropriate facility personnel to ensure that resident issues are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner. Document minutes of Resident Council meetings as well as follow-up to any concerns expressed at the meeting.
    • Attend in-service education programs to meet facility educational requirements.
    • Be familiar with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, Fire Drill and Evacuation Procedures and know how to use the information.
    • Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility records/information, HIPAA.
    • Others as directed by the supervisor or Executive Director.
    • Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly. • Comply with the Residents’ Rights and Community Policies and Procedures

    Skills and Abilities

    • Skill at working with individuals who have cognitive, physical or sensory disabilities.
    • General knowledge of regulatory requirements for an activity program in an assisted living community. Must be computer literate
    • Organization, documentation, and implementation of detailed programs.
    • Comply with the Resident’ Rights and Facility Policies and Procedures.
    • Perform work tasks within the physical demand requirements of your position including standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise move objects. Certificates and Licensing
    • Must maintain a valid driver’s license as some travel is required.
    • Degree and certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist, music therapist, art therapist; or
    • Certified activity coordinator by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals; or
    • Two years’ experience in a social or recreational program within the past five years, in which one year was full-time in a resident activities program in an assisted living community or related health care setting; or
    • Prior completion of a state-approved training course, or willingness to complete a state approved training course within six months of employment.
    • Must be available to work weekends, extended shift hours, holidays and on short notices. • Must have CPR certification upon hire or obtained during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment
    • Must pass background check and random drug tests.
    • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
    • Must possess sight or hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
    • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the communities, which may include a medical and physical examination.
    • Must be able to walk the community for most of the day and stand for extended periods of time.
    • Must be able to lift a minimum of 5 pounds and a maximum of 50 pounds, periodically and/or as needed
