Life Underwriting Supervisor supervises group of underwriters who review, analyze and inspect life insurance contracts. Accepts, modifies or declines a risk through evaluation of an individual's medical history or physical condition, occupational hazards, financial background, insurable interest and other information. Being a Life Underwriting Supervisor analyzes various rate plans utilizing the organization's claims history to determine the appropriate rate plan and benefits costs. Familiar with current legislative and compliance processes affecting life insurance. Additionally, Life Underwriting Supervisor may evaluate reinstatements and changes in existing policies. May have designations or course work toward the CLU, FLMI, etc. Has a sound working knowledge of medical terminology. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Life Underwriting Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision. Agents are set up for success by being assigned a territory (called an agency) with an established book of in-force business.
Position Responsibilities :
Conducting interviews, recommending products, closing sales, and using our Customer Care Sales Model.
Continuously prospecting for sales opportunities.
Collecting premiums from policyholders, based on a pre-arranged schedule.
Responding promptly to policyholder service requests such as beneficiary changes, claims, loans, etc.
Appropriately keeping records, accounting for money collected, and processing paperwork.
Increase the agency size.
Build strong working relationships with customers.
Devote whatever time is necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
Commit to ongoing development of knowledge and skills.
Position qualifications :
Customer service experience.
The ability to visit customers and prospects door-to-door.
A dependable vehicle for daily travel is required.
Making good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.
Licensing Various state licenses are required to sell or service insurance products. Our company provides assistance and guidance to those who are preparing to sit for licensing exams.
Basic Training New agents complete a basic development program that includes self-study, classroom time, role-play, and extensive fieldwork.
This is a remote role reporting to the Hattiesburg, MS office.
The compensation for the role is fully commissioned based.
