Light Assembler assembles fabricated parts of small or light subassemblies and completes units. Fits, tests, and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. Being a Light Assembler identifies and sorts units that fail quality standards. May disassemble units to repair or refit parts as necessary. Additionally, Light Assembler operates hand tools, power tools, and other manufacturing assembly line equipment to assemble units. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Light Assembler works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Position Summary (major areas of contribution):
The assembler is responsible for connecting simple parts into more complex components. The assembler will work within a team environment that will build, wire, inspect and secure units in an efficient manner.
Essential Functions / Job Responsibilities:
Connect parts into more complex components. Will ensure all parts fit correctly and are suitable for the final product.
Read and understand instructions represented in manuals, blueprints, drawings, schematics etc.
Follow established procedures
Collect all material and equipment needed to begin the process
Take precision measurements to ensure perfect fit of components
Select or modify components according to measurements and specifications
Align material and put together parts to build more complex units
Check output to ensure highest quality
Report on issues, malfunction, or defective parts
Other duties as assigned
