Light Assembler assembles fabricated parts of small or light subassemblies and completes units. Fits, tests, and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. Being a Light Assembler identifies and sorts units that fail quality standards. May disassemble units to repair or refit parts as necessary. Additionally, Light Assembler operates hand tools, power tools, and other manufacturing assembly line equipment to assemble units. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Light Assembler works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Pay: $19 per hour
Shift: 6am-4:30pm M-Th, (Note: Friday/Saturday, 6am-4:30pm based upon assigned work area)
Job Duties:
• Read blueprints, diagrams, schematics (i.e., work instructions) to perform complex, multi-faceted assembly operations
• Work independently or collaboratively to perform daily tasks under the guidance of team leader
• Operate machinery to perform specified electrical, mechanical tasks (i.e., wiring, securing bolts, using torque tools, installing rivets into bushings, inserting clips into slots, positioning parts into fixtures, etc.)
• Operate hi-lo, stacker and overhead cranes, as required.
• Ability to use scanning devices, printers, computers, hoists, etc.
• Inspect parts for quality defects
• Proactively participate in problem solving activities and assist in corrective actions
• Careful handling of equipment, material and suspect material utilizing the established procedures and guidelines.
• Adhere to all 6S requirements and perform daily safety checks, as required.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED required
• 2-3 years of manufacturing assembly experience preferred.
• Must
o Have the ability to do repetitive work and lift 20-40 pounds
o Be able to perform stationary work with long cycle times
o Be able to regularly twist, bend, walk and stand for long periods of time.
o Be adept at using power tools, wrenches and scanning devices.
o Be willing to work overtime including possible weekends
o Have reliable transportation
