Light Assembler assembles fabricated parts of small or light subassemblies and completes units. Fits, tests, and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. Being a Light Assembler identifies and sorts units that fail quality standards. May disassemble units to repair or refit parts as necessary. Additionally, Light Assembler operates hand tools, power tools, and other manufacturing assembly line equipment to assemble units. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Light Assembler works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. SCOPE OF WORK:
Under general supervision, person operates a variety of heavy equipment including, but not limited to, dump trucks, backhoe, track hoe, skid loader, trencher, digger derrick, man lifts, locating equipment, and boring machine.
When not operating the machinery, the operator works as a laborer. Maintains equipment in proper operating condition by performing simple preventive maintenance tasks, such as checking the fluid & grease levels and tire pressure before each use. May, at times, be required to work as crew leader by directing other employees on the job. Assists others in backing their equipment. Assists in cleaning equipment, using proper materials.
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality, seamless customer service.
