Light Assembler assembles fabricated parts of small or light subassemblies and completes units. Fits, tests, and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. Being a Light Assembler identifies and sorts units that fail quality standards. May disassemble units to repair or refit parts as necessary. Additionally, Light Assembler operates hand tools, power tools, and other manufacturing assembly line equipment to assemble units. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Light Assembler works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. SCOPE of JOB
Performs a variety of non-repetitive or unique precision assembly operations on electro-mechanical systems or subsystems. Determines method and sequence of assembly operations where complete information is not readily available. Assembles, disassembles, repairs, and reassembles devices according to engineering documents, sketches and / or directions. Utilizes hand and power tools, lifting equipment and standard test and measuring equipment, applying considerable knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and optical interrelations. Will maintain up-to-date knowledge of ISO-9001 directives and quality procedures established by ESI.
JOB DUTIES
1. Assemble and disassemble a variety of electro-mechanical systems or subsystems requiring the fitting, aligning and precision adjustment of components to meet specifications.
2. May perform test operations on units and subassemblies utilizing measuring instruments and correcting or recommending corrections for any deficiencies from expected results.
3. Understand and follow engineering drawings and / or instructions of moderate complexity to complete mechanical and plumbing operations correctly and efficiently.
4. Perform such operations as drilling, tapping, and soldering, as required.
5. Operate hand, power and machine tools, as required.
6. Perform other varied tasks involving a knowledge of system assembly requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge: Vocational school or high school with courses in shop, blueprint reading and associated mathematics.
Experience: Two to five years of experience.
Training: Will maintain up-to-date knowledge of assembly practices and documentation and inventory standards as pertains to electron beam systems. Valid lift truck operators license.
