Performs site preparation tasks, including digging holes or trenches, installing anchors, climbing poles, and using equipment like digger derricks, aerial lifts, pulling and tensioning equipment, forklifts, and dump trucks. Being a Lineman installs wire and cable. Follows all safety regulations and procedures. Additionally, Lineman work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a valid Driver's License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Lineman works under moderate supervision.     Telecom Lineman II

    We are seeking an experienced Telecom Lineman to join our endeavor in bridging the digital divide in the New England Region. Our Telecom Lineman II will experience a dynamic workplace environment with travel in the New England Region including overnight stays as needed. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, operating bucket trucks, operating equipment along with hand and motorized tools, loading and unloading material, climbing poles, working from aerial personnel lift devices, and communicating with crew members. The Telecom Linemen II will perform overhead and underground fiber optic line construction and maintenance, operation and maintenance of equipment, scheduling, and crew organization. This is a regular, full-time, non-exempt position.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Build, maintain, and repair aerial and underground fiber optic facilities

    Run a crew as directed by management

    Schedule, organize, and communicate professionally


    Complete required documentation

    Safely operate bucket truck and other job site vehicles and trailers

    Operate hydraulic and electric reel trailers

    Operate and load lashers

    Climb telephone poles and ladders

    Perform cable pull out operations in both aerial and underground installations

    Confined space attendant duties

    Measure and mark reference points on construction sites

    Operate various pumps and compressors

    Maintain necessary stock of job-specific tools, equipment, materials, and required safety gear inventory

    Inspect equipment, remove worn or damaged work materials from work areas

    Read instructions, specifications, and blueprints to determine work activities.

    Load and unload materials on various vehicles or trailers

    Maintain thorough compliance with all federal, state, and local safety requirements


    Physical Demands

    The employee is occasionally going to sit; the employee is regularly required to see, speak, hear, stand; walk; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms including overhead reaching; turn, pivot, or bend wrists, elbows, shoulders. The employee is regularly lifting to 75 pounds and must have the ability to see in full color.

    Work Environment

    The employee is frequently working in high places; the employee is regularly working in wet or humid conditions; in extreme hot or cold weather conditions; working near moving mechanical parts; occasionally working near fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock.

    Qualifications

    1 years of proven experience in the telecom lineman field. Ability to operate equipment, including, but not limited to an aerial bucket truck, lashing equipment, and other equipment. Ability to supervise one or more crew members. Ability to communicate professionally and complete any necessary documentation. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license with three years of proven and safe driving experience.
