Lineman constructs, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground transmission lines. Performs site preparation tasks, including digging holes or trenches, installing anchors, climbing poles, and using equipment like digger derricks, aerial lifts, pulling and tensioning equipment, forklifts, and dump trucks. Being a Lineman installs wire and cable. Follows all safety regulations and procedures. Additionally, Lineman work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a valid Driver's License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Lineman works under moderate supervision.     Position Summary :

    Construction, maintenance, and transferring of aerial and underground HFC, FTTH, and telephone plant

    Responsibilities :

    • Competent pole and ladder climbing skills
    • Works aloft utilizing climbing gaffs, ladders, and mechanical lifts
    • Works outdoors in the elements
    • Reads network design prints
    • Accurately maintains daily log sheet and inventory paperwork
    • Knowledge of NESC construction guidelines and Armstrong construction practices
    • Follows all Armstrong safety policies
    • Maintains vehicles and machines to Armstrong standards
    • Other assigned tasks

    Qualifications :

    • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
    • Must possess a positive attitude, a strong work-ethic, and a desire to learn
    • Must be able to travel
    • Physical capabilities including climbing, lifting, and carrying a minimum of 75 lbs.
    • Must maintain physical fitness to meet weight limit requirements for ladders and lifts and be able to meet the demands of a labor intensive job
    • Must be able to take direction verbally and written and be able to work rapidly under time pressure
    • Demonstrated ability to make sound judgments and ethical decisions
    • Available to work after business hours as required, i.e. storm damage
    • Regular, punctual, and consistent attendance
    • Commercial driver's license with appropriate endorsements, fork lift certification, flagging certification, and pole climbing certification
    • Successful completion of a pre-employment DOT Physical
