Lineman constructs, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground transmission lines. Performs site preparation tasks, including digging holes or trenches, installing anchors, climbing poles, and using equipment like digger derricks, aerial lifts, pulling and tensioning equipment, forklifts, and dump trucks. Being a Lineman installs wire and cable. Follows all safety regulations and procedures. Additionally, Lineman work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a valid Driver's License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Lineman works under moderate supervision. DESCRIPTION
Chester Municipal Electric Light Dept. is currently seeking an experienced Lineman Supervisor. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operations of the line crew and report to the General Manager.
Primary role responsibilities include scheduling daily work for the line crew and overseeing the successful completion of such work; maintenance & construction of primary overhead power distribution systems; necessary tree trimming to maintain lines; maintenance & construction of secondary overhead lines; installing and removing meters; planning & estimating line construction; care & maintenance of line trucks and related equipment, care & maintenance of town streetlights; training & instruction of back-up personnel; mutual aid to other MELD's; and scheduling and attendance of classes and safety meetings.
Position requires equivalent of HS Diploma, completion of apprenticeship program & min. of 3 years related electric line experience. Must possess a CDL Class B driver's license, Class 1B Hoisting License. Salary contingent on qualifications & experience.
Appointment of final candidate will be contingent upon results of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, criminal & motor vehicle record checks and a physical exam; costs for these pre-placement requirements to be paid by CMELD.
