Lineman constructs, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground transmission lines. Performs site preparation tasks, including digging holes or trenches, installing anchors, climbing poles, and using equipment like digger derricks, aerial lifts, pulling and tensioning equipment, forklifts, and dump trucks. Being a Lineman installs wire and cable. Follows all safety regulations and procedures. Additionally, Lineman work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a valid Driver's License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Lineman works under moderate supervision. Position may require hours outside of regular business hours. Travel is required and will be based on job site location. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.
Physical requirements
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs., stand and walk frequently, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push/pull, reach (above shoulder level), and squat. Must be able to walk, stand and work on uneven terrain for extended periods of time.
