Linux Administrator installs, configures, and maintains Linux operating systems. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with the operating system's servers, hardware, applications, and software. Being a Linux Administrator monitors systems performance and ensures compliance with security standards. May Require a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Linux Administrator typically reports to a project leader or manager. The Linux Administrator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Hands on experience in Linux server’s installation, configuration & troubleshooting.
Good knowledge of installing and configuring Linux services (NFS, SAMBA, NIS, LDAP, LVM, RAID etc)
Good knowledge about Networking basics & troubleshooting skills.
Server Hardware troubleshooting experience.
Customer Support experience on HPC
Experience in cluster management software products (ROCKS or xCAT etc)
Knowledge on MPI and Libraries and Compilers.
Knowledge on Job Scheduler – (Slurm, Torque, PBSPro etc)
If any experience in PFS is good.
Knowledge on HPC Interconnects – GigE or InfiniBand
Installation and support for Application software (including commercial and opensource licensed software).
Intermediate experience in HPC Application compiling, running & optimizing.
Knowledge on storage (DAS/NAS/SAN)
His duties/responsibilities include the following, not limited to:
a) HPC Generic Support with understanding of its hardware nomenclature, cabling structure and software architecture, InfiniBand switch installation and support, Bash Shell Scripting and Cron Scheduling.
b) OS support for latest version of CentOS and its related patches and kernel modules.
c) Installation and upgradation of codes (like MPI, OpenMP, etc), compilers (like gcc, icc, ifort, mpixxx etc) and libraries.
d) Installation and support for Application software (including commercial and opensource licensed software). It should be noted that IIT Guwahati will provide the media and license information for commercial software only.
e) Installation and support for Scheduler.
f) Re-installation and re-configuration of nodes (master, IO, all compute and GPU) in the event of any corruptions, including system, data, and OS level corruptions, or any such similar incidents.
g) Support in Luster File System, Quota management, Multipathing and other related areas.
h) Generate and provide quarterly reports (signed and stamped on the letter-head of the bidder) of the service rendered and all calls received, resolved, pending (due to what reason) in an Excel sheet and/or Hard copies to IIT Guwahati.
