Embedded Linux Engineer

 Syndetix is seeking a creative and talented Embedded Linux Engineer to join our engineering team.  In this position you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing front-end software and embedded solutions for our projects. You will collaborate with other members of our engineering team to create user-friendly interfaces and ensure seamless integration with the embedded systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in front-end development, experience with embedded systems, and proficiency in relevant programming languages and tools.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITIES:

• Develop software components through all phases of the new product process.
• Work closely with the hardware, mechanical, and production teams to verify functionality.
• Keep up with technology trends in design, manufacturing, and software components for application in new products.
• Ensure designs meet the product functionality and certification requirements.
• Support software products throughout the lifecycle.
• Effectively communicate project status to management.

 BASE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in front-end development, preferably in embedded systems.
• Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Proficiency in software languages such as Java, Android, C , and Python.
• Solid understanding of software development principles and best practices.
• Familiarity with software version control systems (e.g., Git) for collaborative development.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues in software and embedded systems.

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

• Familiarity with disk partitioning, OS installation, Linux configuration, networking, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, Open Manage Enterprise).
• Knowledge of Linux server build processes (yocto and similar).
• Proficiency in shell scripting (e.g., Ksh, Bash, YAML, JSON).
• Experience with front-end frameworks/libraries (e.g., Angular, React, Vue.js) and their integration with embedded systems.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or similar engineering degree and 5 years of related experience.

OR

• Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or similar technical master’s degree and 2 years of experience.

GENERAL INFORMATION: This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. To obtain a clearance, the candidate will need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
