    Job Summary

    Under general supervision, this position supports the ITS Infrastructure & Platform Services group and their interface with other campus systems and services; provides server infrastructure and associated analysis, modification, maintenance, installation, and support; and interfaces with internal ITS staff and the user community on the use of these systems with a focus on server infrastructure and platforms. The position supports enterprise-level AWS; VMware virtualization; Windows, Apple, and Linux Server OS; MDM platforms and other related infrastructure and systems. This position also maintains and supports assigned systems and services to ensure system availability, integrity, and reliability.

    This position is eligible for remote work pursuant to Cal Poly's Telecommuting and Remote Work Guidelines and the CSU policy requiring that all work be performed within the State of California.

    Department Summary

    Information Technology Services (ITS) is a fast-moving team that is responsible for helping Cal Poly achieve academic excellence through developing and implementing learning, teaching, and administrative solutions which leverage technology that align with strategic goals and objectives. With a focus on continuous improvement, ITS fosters innovation, supports continuous learning, and develops people to their full potential. Our team of more than 170 professionals works in a DevOps environment to shape the technology landscape at Cal Poly.

    Education and Experience

    • Knowledge of enterprise level infrastructure and platform services such as Monitoring, CI/CD, Configuration Management, and OS Deployment Automation.
    • Demonstrated skill designing and working in complex cloud and on-premise datacenter.
    • Thorough knowledge of and demonstrated skill with automation languages (e.g. Bash, Python, Cloudformation, and PowerShell).
    • Demonstrated ability with designing and deploying systems utilizing CI/CD tools in a large-scale enterprise DevOps environment (e.g. MS SCCM, MDM, Ansible, AWS CodePipeline).
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and plan upgrades to platform and system configuration that improve utilization and reliability based on analysis of platform, system, application and production requirements.

    Salary and Benefits

    Anticipated Hiring Range: $85,000 - $95,000 Per Year

    Classification Range: $58,944 - $145,488 Per Year
