Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work on discovery responses for cases.
• Research and write memos, pleadings, orders, motions, briefs, responses, and other matters for cases in the office.
• Attend and/or conduct depositions and summarize depositions of witnesses, parties, experts, police officers, and others as required.
• Participate in mediation of matters, whether in person or virtually.
• Attend meetings of municipalities, as assigned from time to time.
• Interview witnesses, clients, and others for cases.
• Conduct and participate in hearings on matters as assigned.
• Perform duties and responsibilities as a licensed attorney for this office only.
• Maintain an active license to practice law in Indiana and any other jurisdiction as decided by the Associate Attorney.
• Create and bill a total of 1,500 hours billable per year.
• After 3 years in the office, create a plan to increase the attorney’s client base outside of the clients currently served by the law firm.

Work Hours:

Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Additional hours are required to attain the minimum hourly billing amount of 1,500 billable hours per year. Additional hours may be necessary for travel, court hearings, and other matters as part of the practice. There is no overtime paid for this position.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Indiana Bar, with the ability to practice law in additional jurisdictions.
• Strong research and writing skills.
• Previous experience in litigation and handling legal matters.
• Ability to manage and prioritize tasks efficiently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
• Demonstrated commitment to ethical and professional conduct.
