Litigation Manager provides guidance and advice to a staff of paralegals or legal assistants involved in prosecuting or defending lawsuits. Monitors timelines and work progress to ensure work is completed on time. Being a Litigation Manager conducts new hire and ongoing training sessions. Requires a thorough knowledge of the organization's products/services. Additionally, Litigation Manager requires a bachelor's/master's degree. Typically reports to the top legal executive/general counsel. The Litigation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. The ideal candidate must possess 7-10 years of litigation experience. Previous litigation and personal injury experience are required and medical malpractice experience is a plus. Compensation:$70,000 yearly, DOE
Responsibilities:Including, but not limited to:
- Setting up case structure, organizing case documents and calendar dates
- Preparing and filing legal documents including discovery requests/responses
- Researching expert witnesses and scheduling depositions
- Communicating with legal team members, clients, counsel, experts, and court
- Subpoena medical and other records
- Reviewing documents/medical records and preparing detailed summaries/chronologies
- Self-starter who can work with little supervision, be extremely organized, and very detail-oriented
- Ability to multi-task effectively and prioritize incoming work to meet deadlines
- Demonstrate a professional demeanor to problem-solve during busy times
- Follow through with minimal direction and take initiative
- Treat others with respect and contribute to a positive team environment
- Knowledge of Trial pad and/or TrialWorks a plus
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Word and PDF conversion software. Excel and PowerPoint experience is necessary
- Knowledge of Local and State discovery rules
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Organization skills and attention to detail
