Litigation Manager provides guidance and advice to a staff of paralegals or legal assistants involved in prosecuting or defending lawsuits. Monitors timelines and work progress to ensure work is completed on time. Being a Litigation Manager conducts new hire and ongoing training sessions. Requires a thorough knowledge of the organization's products/services. Additionally, Litigation Manager requires a bachelor's/master's degree. Typically reports to the top legal executive/general counsel. The Litigation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.     Sample responsibilities:

    • Answering case intake calls and interviewing potential clients
    • Create initial client files and enter records into case management system
    • Maintaining case documents/databases
    • Discovery work including drafting and answering interrogatories, requests for production ,and requests to admit
    • Drafting and serving subpoenas
    • Obtaining medical records from clients and healthcare facilities
    • Legal Document preparation and drafting including pleadings, motions, trial documents, etc.
    • Familiarity with legal terminology and SC Civil Procedure requirements
    • Must be comfortable with state and federal e-filing

    Minimum requirements and other qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Paralegal Studies or Paralegal Certificate
    • 2-3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal
    • 1-3 years of Personal Injury Law firm experience preferred
    • Great customer service skills, both in-person and over the phone
    • Strong personal work ethic and ability to organize time, manage diverse activities, and meet critical deadlines with minimal supervision
    • Excellent writing, editing, and proof-reading skills, with the ability to be detail-oriented
    • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively
