Litigation Manager provides guidance and advice to a staff of paralegals or legal assistants involved in prosecuting or defending lawsuits. Monitors timelines and work progress to ensure work is completed on time. Being a Litigation Manager conducts new hire and ongoing training sessions. Requires a thorough knowledge of the organization's products/services. Additionally, Litigation Manager requires a bachelor's/master's degree. Typically reports to the top legal executive/general counsel. The Litigation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.     Essential Functions:

    • Prepare discovery and respond to requests (admissions, disclosures, interrogatories, orders, etc.).
    • Attend and manage hearings, mediations, depositions, settlement conferences, and court proceedings.
    • Draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
    • Effectively communicate with clients and the managing attorney(s) to understand the client's goals
    • Negotiate Settlements with opposing counsel
    • Analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and research case law, statutes, regulations, and documents impacting the firm's clients.
    • Communicate clearly and logically (orally and in writing) with regulatory agencies, courts, counsel, clients, and managing attorneys.
    • Handle complex problems utilizing initiative, creativity, and sound professional judgment.
    • Work both independently and as a contributing team member.
    • Manage a caseload and manage deadlines
    • Manage and develop relationships with clients
    • Mentor support staff.

    Physical and Mental Demands:

    Physical Demands.

    • Ability to regularly utilize a computer keyboard, monitor and other electronic equipment to prepare reports, communicate and perform other duties.
    • Ability to endure a sedentary type of work requiring a great deal of sitting at a computer.
    • Ability to work at least forty (40) hours a week.
    • Ability to read and interpret legal documents.
    • Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance, meet deadlines and perform work duties in a timely manner.

    • Ability to simultaneously address multiple complex problems.

    QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION.

    Qualifying Education.

    • Juris Doctorate from an accredited Law School

    Qualifying Experience.

    • 3 years Litigation experience preferred
