  • We are looking for a skilled litigation paralegal to work with attorney Mark S. Peters, Esq. in various civil litigation matters, including Family Law, Personal Injury, and Commercial Litigation. You will be responsible for the coordination of all the details before, during and after trial. We are looking for a person who will be able to provide support during all phases of the litigation process; from participating in initial client intake to conducting discovery through trial.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct pre-trials investigation, legal research and initial case assessments
    • Draft pleadings, motions and appellate documents and file them with the court
    • Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics etc)
    • Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes
    • Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices
    • Aid attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests
    • Gather relevant information from a variety of sources
    • Liaise between trial teams and internal/external third parties
    • Help with voir dire, jury selection and witnesses preparation
    • Provide assistance with case settlements

    Skills

    • Proven working experience as a litigation paralegal
    • Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, and practices in Florida Family and Civil cases
    • Highly organized with ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to handle emails and telephone calls from clients, opposing counsel’s office, Judicial Assistants and Judges in a professional manner
    • Empathetic and caring about assisting people through very serious legal problems
    • Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail
    • Self motivated and capable working within a team
    • Extensive computer and database expertise; including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Amicus Attorney
    • Florida Certified Paralegal or other relevant certification
