Vocational Education Specialist will work with adults with psychiatric disabilities and assist individuals in successfully acquiring and maintaining employment.
The position will work with individuals who receive supported employment services to assist in preparing for, obtaining, and maintaining competitive employment.
The position will provide pre-employment trainings, supports, and assessment for individuals who have a future goal of working in a community.
The position will review potential barriers to employment with individuals and create plans for ways to overcome barriers.
The position will provide job development services for individuals currently seeking employment, by developing resumes, practicing interviewing skills and provides instruction on job retention skills, attitudes, and soft skills necessary for employment success.
The position will assist individuals with searching for jobs, applying for jobs, preparing for and attending interviews and following up with employers after a job interview and/or offers of employment.
The position will provide job coaching and supports for a designated caseload, which include on-site support, assessment, job training, benefits advisement and off-site supports.
Initiate and maintain ongoing relationships with businesses, sets up and maintains employer profiles and contact logs.
Provide information about available services, programs, and employment opportunities to individuals, family members and other support providers.
Minimum requirements: high school diploma or equivalency, good computer skills, Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Psychology or Education preferred. NYS driver's license is required. Excellent benefit program offered.
