The Student Assistant for the Youth Reserve Collection assists the music librarian in processing book orders and performs general customer service and office duties,
Learning specialized library software, maintaining systamatic workflows, and updating multipage spreadsheets required.
This job needs a commitment of at least 10-15 hours week to be done well. Up to 20 hours and additional summer projects may be availalbe.
Qualifications summary
The succesful applicant will demonstrate:
- Working knowlege of Western classical music notation
- Fluency in English at the conversational level or above
- Willingness to learn new skills
- Good time management and organizational abilty

- Interest in learning and improving marketing and graphic design skills
Additional beneficial qualifications include:
- Knowledge of other languages such as French, German, Spanish, Italian, or Chinese
- A background in art, graphic design, or communication

Qualifications
The sucessful applicant will possess:
- A working knowlege of western musical notation (high-school band or choir, piano lessons, etc)
- Conversational or better fluency in English
- Willingness to learn new skills
- Technical aptitude for Google Suite, other software, and spreadsheets
- Friendly, helpful disposition
- The ablity to be organized, detailed, and self-motivated
- Knowledge of additional languages beyond English is a plus

Interpersonal interactions
Daily office duties include interacting with customers/patrons in a helpful and friendly manner in-person, on the phone, and via email.
Physical demands
Sitting for up to 20 minutes at a time common.
Should be able to lift up to 20lbs, bend, strech, and kneel in order to shelve books
Work environment
Typical office environment. Low to moderate levels of noise and activity. Some dust or other allergens present.
