DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As part of this position, your main responsibility will be to conduct standardized On Road examinations in order to assess the skills and competence of Non-Commercial Driver License applicants. This will involve evaluating physical conditions, driving qualifications, and mechanical vehicle conditions based on established guidelines. You will also need to perform pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety features are in place and assess the applicant's knowledge of vehicle controls. Additionally, you will be responsible for examining applications, registrations, and permits for any irregularities or fraud. Another important aspect of your role will be administering knowledge examinations on motor vehicle code and traffic signs. You will also need to evaluate the practical demonstration of motor vehicle operation and the applicant's adherence to road rules. Lastly, you will be required to conduct vision tests, including telebinocular and color perception tests.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
• Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Travel and overtime required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (commonwealth title); or
• Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.

• This position requires an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
• This position requires no suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five-year period immediately preceding employment.
• All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
