Interviews loan applicants to develop information concerning their loan needs, earnings, and financial condition.
- Analyzes current financial position of members to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
- Make timely decision to approve, deny, or forward the loan request to higher levels for final decision if necessary.
- Prepares and/or reviews all loan documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Establishes the terms and conditions (based off established lending policy and procedures) of an approved loan and reviews them with the member.
- Explains various loan programs to members, evaluates their needs and recommends loan or other options.
- Keeps informed of current trends in consumer credit.
- Performs first stage collection efforts with members with past-due loans.
- Authorize release of collateral on existing loans, changes in loan terms, waivers of payments, due date change, etc. within policy guidelines
- Participates in sales development activities including commission sales of mechanical breakdown, G.A.P., etc.
- Meets or exceeds established production goals.
- Assists members with other account requests, including opening or closing accounts and responding to member inquiries and service requests such as notary services, wire transfers, account assistance.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Performance Metrics
- Achieves or exceeds assigned loan volume (dollars and/or numbers).
- Ensures loan decisions are made and relayed to appropriate parties within a reasonable timeframe. Acknowledges initial requests within 48 hours.
- Maintains a delinquency rate at or below the standard set by management.
- Maintains a charge-off rate below the standard set by management.
- Ensures loan decisions are in compliance with all applicable Federal State, and lending regulations, policies and procedures.
- Ensures file exceptions are cleared quickly and accurately.
- Maintains high level of member satisfaction as measured by surveys and follow-up communications.
- Trouble shoots and resolves member and internal inquiries in a timely and accurate manner.
- Provides informed, professional, timely and accurate service and support to all members and associates.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to typical office conditions. Occasionally the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Travel may be required.
Physical Demands
While performing the responsibilities of the Loan Officer, the employee is required to talk and hear, conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately and efficiently. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required in this job include close vision. Occasional lifting of boxes and equipment under 30 lbs.

Education & Experience

A high school education or equivalent.
- Two or more years of similar or related experience preferred.
- Previous financial experience desired.
- A two-year college degree or completion of specialized courses of study at business or trade school or specialized or extensive training or apprenticeship program completion preferred.
Consumer loan officers have the potential to impact their wage with monthly commissions.

Pay: $22.21 - $25.53 per hour
