Department: Base Operations & Maintenance
Job Summary:
The Locksmith duties include installing, repairing, adjusting, and replacing locks and other door closures around various buildings and facilities. Design or make duplicate keys when required, manage the supply of keys for all staff, and document when keys are issued, and returned. The Locksmith may need to install or maintain emergency exit systems, electronic access equipment, and devices.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Duplicate keys and locks
Create and cut keys using a key-cutting machine
Install, maintain, adjust and repair locks, knobs, deadbolts, latches both mechanical and electric
Maintain records and files of keying information and issues keys, distribution, return and work performed
Assist with access control and securing property
Repair and maintain locking devices and security systems
Modify needed lock combinations
Use hand and power tools, and special equipment to install, repair, and replace locks, security systems, and access control devices
Document and maintain records of all keys or locks in accordance with the requirements
Respond to work request for all types of lock and key repairs or replacements
Required Skills/Abilities:
Proficient written and oral communication skills according to skill requirements
Possess strong computer skills, able to read, write, and comprehend written instructional documents
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra and geometry
Proficient Microsoft Office productivity suite
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
At least two years of related experience required
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds at times
Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands as necessary
Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels
Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
Special Qualifications/Requirements:
Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's background investigation
