Cuts keys by duplication, code and impression, using hand and machine tools. Rekeys and repairs the various types of locking systems used on the UCI and UCIMC locations. Interprets and makes changes to the key record system to reflect changes brought about by rekeying and modification to campus building. Installs, repairs and performs preventive maintenance on various types of builder’s hardware.

Required:
Must possess a valid California driver license. Must possess or have proof of application for a State of California Locksmith permit.
Installation, repair and adjustment of electro-hydraulic and electro-pneumatic door openers, various other architectural hardware items. and electronic locking system. Installation, repair and adjustment of various fire exit devices. Rekey and repair various types of locking systems on the UCI and UCIMC campuses. Make up and interpret complex master key systems. Cut keys by duplication, code and impression, using hand and machine tools. Operate a key duplicator. Operate various code machines to produce first keys to factory specifications. Effectively communicate with various faculty and staff members in regard to the planning, performance and completion of assigned duties. Operates a personal computer. Operates power tools Low voltage theory.
Preferred:
Assist with data entry. Changes combination of safe and vaults. Ability to weld Read blueprints. Familiarity with NFPA 101, Life Safety codes.
Special Conditions Required:
Must be available for on-call assignments or alternate work schedule as required. Must comply with UC Vaccination Policy Must be willing to work weekends. Must submit to background check. Must respect smoke free environments. May be required to work in toxic, diseased, chemically contaminated or radioactive laboratory intensive areas determined to be safe.
