Overview
The Austal Wire room is hiring a Logistics Analyst to support Virginia/Columbia deck outfitting efforts in Mobile, Alabama.
The outfitting will be conducted in a Focus Factory environment and include post paint installation of Piping, Electrical, Structural, Sheet metal, Mechanical and more.
The Focus Factory environment consists of supplier personnel being utilized as embedded EB contractors, provided contractor badges, necessary trade training and access to portions of the business system. The Focus Factory “builds to EB paper” and requires strict adherence to the EB policies, procedures, processes and work packages.
The selected candidate will be responsible for interacting with all levels of supplier and EB management. The candidate selected must be highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills. The candidate must be task oriented, able to prioritize workload and be responsible for knowledge transfer. In addition, the individual must have effective problem solving and critical thinking skills and must be able to cultivate and promote a positive TEAM environment.
Logistics Analysts must be well versed in either EB Wire/Tool Room control and/or Material Control and management. Candidates must possess knowledge in one area and training will be conducted onsite for the other. Material Control requires knowledge of Material management, inventory policies, warehousing, material packaging and handling.
The candidate will be required to receive, identify, locate, retrieve and ship materials to/from Quonset Point, Groton and other EB locations.
Wire/Tool Room requires knowledge of the ATICTS system, loading weld wire to a White Wire Chit, utilization of AWPSS, weld wire storage/segregation requirements, stick electrode management and extreme attention to detail.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Must possess an energetic and positive attitude and be willing to change and develop as the requirements of assigned tasks dictate
- Able to receive raw Materials and Products. Responsible for validation of material types, markings, segregation and quantities utilizing receiving reports, material move tags, packing slips, packing lists and shipping documents
- Maintain warehouse and buffer storage areas. Ensure material is properly labeled, staged, segregated and stored in accordance with EB processes. Ensure all inventory accuracy audits are performed and retained for OQE
- Able to issue Material/Product to supervision or management.
- Must be able to locate material according to location, nomenclature, size, shape, weight or stock number
- Must be able to palletize material securely for transportation or delivery
- Proficient in MRP, Pitch/Catch and Virtual Warehousing systems
- Track material transfers and in transit within EB depts., expediting as necessary to support the required need date
- Weld wire management, issue/return and scrap process.
- Utilize ATICTS and AWPSS for proper weld wire issue and return.
- Additional training will be provided to ensure full compliance of EB processes and procedures
- Must be able to operate basic hand tools. Ie banding tools, shears, etc.
- Computer skills required.
- Responsible for processing work on tablets
- Perform tactical problem solving
- Coordinate with other Production, Planning, Material Warehouses, Shipping/Receiving organizations
- Must have strong commitment toward safety and must be able to handle/lift heavy items within safety guidelines
- Applicant will be required to work in a collaborative and team environment and meet organizational goals
- Position will be permanently located in Alabama supporting Focus Factory (work to EB paper) program sat EB supplier facilities
- Ensure EB team promotes and adheres to the importance of a strong security posture with embedded supplier personnel. Must diligently manage any sensitive/controlled data
- Gain the trust and collaboration of the supplier management and embedded personnel
- Employee may be required to work other than normal hours, to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Shift work and emergence overtime may be required
- Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates, supervisors, suppliers and EB leadership
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have 1 years of related experience. This is not an entry level position
- Experienced in any of the following: tool crib, wire room or be proficient with MRP, pitch/catch or worked in an EB warehouse
- Must be available to work all shifts and extended hours as business needs dictate
- Must be able to travel, as required. This position will require business and EWA travel as necessary to support the Program efforts at other vendor locations
Preferred:
- Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice Programs
- Past experience working in an EB and/or Naval Shipyard environment
- past experience in warehousing, transportation, planning, or equivalent
- A working knowledge of Team Center
- Computer skills including advanced Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project
- Proficient in Lotus Notes, Outlook and Cornerstone
- EB Material background/Experience
- EB Forklift qualification
- Military/Navy experience
