RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The HQ USSOUTHCOM Logistics Support Analyst supports the Office of Military Commissions
- Acts as the USSOUTHCOM Liaison to the Office of Military Commissions (OMC), U.S. Army South, Navy Region Southeast, and other DoD Components to support logistics planning and coordination, and to resolve emerging problems relative to logistics support planning and the establishment and management of Victim Family Member (VFM) sites.
- Assist in the development and execution of logistics management operations that involve planning, coordinating, and execution of flight, ground transportation and lodging operations at designated Victim Family Member (VFM) sites in support of military commissions trials and sentencing operations.
- Support OMC in the development/refinement of a military commissions trials concept of operations enabling OMC to inform senior DoD officials on military commissions trials execution.
- Communicate and maintain relationships with designated hotels, airports, and ground transportation services to ensure support needed by OMC is rendered when needed.
- Support surge tasks associated with military commissions trials and sentencing operations.
- Develop and maintain a master event schedule for all logistical activities occurring at VFM sites.
- Support OMC in the development and planning of VFM site improvement projects.
- Support OMC in the development of a periodic maintenance and break/fix program for VFM sites.
- Periodically, conduct site visits to VFM sites to ensure they are fully mission capable.
- Participate in logistics related working groups and meetings in support of military commissions trials to ensure SOUTHCOM equities, directives, and guidance are integrated into planning efforts.
- Provide weekly updates to the J34 on engineering/infrastructure/sustainment requirements efforts.
- Participate in SOUTHCOM-hosted OMC Executive and Senior Steering Groups.
- Provide detailed planning updates to senior officials when requested, including the SOUTHCOM Military Deputy Commander, Deputy Director for Operations, OMC Director, and other designated officials.
- Liase with OMC and supporting DoD components to plan, conduct, and resolve issues related to the conduct of military commissions trials.
REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s Degree coupled with 20 years military experience, including working in a joint environment and/or combatant command.
- The ideal candidate will have comprehensive experience working Detention Operations and support to OMC, as well as an understanding of the DoD organizations.
- Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously.
- Expert level of interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate effectively, convince, influence, advise, and respond to questions from DoD leadership, including senior
- DoD officials and other U.S. Government Organizations
- Ability to develop and brief concepts of operation, decision and update briefs, and to draft reports, assessments, white papers, and other documents.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to work at the West Palm Beach office or at the U.S. Southern Command Headquarters 5 days per month but will otherwise work remotely/TELEWORK unless required to support emerging OMC movements and activities on site. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday from 0730-1630 (except for recognized Federal holidays).
- To accommodate remote/TELEWORK, the candidate must have a sufficient professional workspace and appropriate system(s) to maintain connectivity with USSOUTHCOM via MS Teams, GVS, email, and phone.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office software applications (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
- Must have a current U.S. Passport.
