Logistics Director manages all aspects of an organization's logistics management function to control, deliver, and distribute products and materials to the destination. Implements an overall strategy, metrics, and processes to deploy an optimized logistic network and operations. Being a Logistics Director oversees critical and related inventory, distribution, and transportation operations that support the achievement of organizational goals and KPI's for product delivery and customer satisfaction. Selects vendors and negotiates rates and service levels and monitors performance. Additionally, Logistics Director ensures compliance with all regulations governing transportation of goods. SUMMARY:
The Logistics Director is responsible to work with and across all areas of the company to improve safety and customer service by eliminating waste, driving continuous improvement, and providing overall supply chain from raw materials to customer delivery support.
Core Functions:
Create & maintain value stream improvement plans across all facilities. Work with GMs, Purchasing Managers, Trucking Managers, I.T. Programmers, etc. to execute continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste and improving customer service for all items in Logistics flow.
Be a technical expert in the areas of process improvement, strategic analysis & planning, and supply chain improvement. Provide new and innovative strategies and techniques to improve overall business performance.
Guide, consult, and assist with overall supply chain design including logistics, staging, trucking asset utilization.
Assist Managers and Human Resources in workforce development for appropriate disciplines including areas such as time management, project management, root cause analysis, lean manufacturing, etc.
Monitor existing Key Performance Indicators and provides support to the GMs to achieve yearly goals, helps develop new Key Performance Indicators and business plans as appropriate, and assists GMs in resolving cost and customer satisfaction issues.
Develop a team capable of meeting CSMI’s future goals.
Provide support to the Executive Management Team as requested and performs other related duties as assigned.
Coordinate all corporate leasing/purchases, transportation and logistics equipment working with each site.
Facilitate the logistics function from each site to improve efficiency and share best practices.
Facilitate inter-site resource to be deployed for the best use of CSMI.
Generate and drive cost reductions and efficiency within Logistics.
Maintain and create new relationships as needed with outside vendors.
Maintain and train for compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety, DOT Regulations Logistic Network.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of bachelor's degree in engineering or Operations Management and 8 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous experience leading and managing teams required.
Strong knowledge of logistics techniques & methods, process improvement methodology, and project management.
Have a good understanding of a Manufactured-to-Order environment.
Be well organized and able to set priorities, manage time and coordinate multiple tasks.
Be a team player and a team leader.
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Possess strong understanding of manufacturing and logistics computer systems, engineering design tools, lean manufacturing tools.
DOT Regulations working knowledge.

Carries out leadership and supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and providing solutions to problems.
